Meet The Team
Joe & Trish
Joe, a lifetime resident of Caroline County, received his degree in photography from Chowan University in 1977. He has been a full-time professional photographer since 1978, opened his first studio in Bowling Green in 1981, and then moved to his beautiful home-studio in 1990. Joe enjoys hiking, camping, fossil hunting, Hokie sports, baseball, and of course, taking photographs! He has served two terms as the Governor of the Northern District of the Virginia Professional Photographers Association, served on the Board of Directors for two years, and has been a member of the VPPA, the Southeastern PPA, and the national branch of the PPA for over 40 years. He is currently serving on the Ethics Committee of the VPPA. Joe has won numerous awards for his photography including the prestigious Kodak Gallery Award. He is a member of the International Professional Photography Hall of Fame. His goal as a professional photographer is to preserve precious family memories and important milestones forever.
Trish and Joe have been married for over thirty years. During that time Trish has assisted Joe with the studio in addition to her full time job teaching and raising their son. Since retiring from teaching in 2013 Trish is now able to devote more time to photography. She enjoys gardening and maintains many seasonal gardens which are used for portrait backgrounds. Because of her love of children, she is adept at helping kids feel relaxed and comfortable during sessions. She is the one watching to make sure necklaces are straight, shirts are tucked in, and clothing colors are coordinated. Her passions are food, nutrition, and relaxing on the patio with a good book…which she is determined to work in between sessions!
Jessi
Jessi is a multi-tasking, multi-talented, amazing photographer's assistant. She has worked for Joe since 1997 doing everything from working a second camera at weddings, to retouching and digital artwork on the images. She also handles in-studio projects such as album creation, graphic design, web design, technology support, equipment management, and much more. She also occasionally works as a solo photographer, taking artistic images and working freelance candid events. Jessi earned her BFA in Interior Design from VCU in 2003, with a minor in Art History (But likes photography and Photoshop a lot better!) She also paints, knits, gardens, beads, sews, stitches, and plays too many video games. She has been a staff member of the VPPA since 2005.
